How to Find TIN Number for E-Invoice

Introduction to Malaysia’s New TIN Search Service

The Malaysian Inland Revenue Board (LHDN) has introduced a significant advancement in tax administration through the new Tax Identification Number (TIN) search service. This implementation, announced in Budget 2025, falls under the scope of the Income Tax Act (ACP) 1967 and represents a major step forward in Malaysia’s taxation system.

MyTax TIN Search Platforms

The TIN search service is accessible through multiple platforms, with the primary access point being the MyTax Portal (mytax.hasil.gov.my) launching on January 1, 2025.

Currently the TIN Search Service only accessible by login with MyDigital ID. By scanning the QR code using the MyDigital ID app (MyDigital ID – Apps on Google Play) or (MyDigital ID on the App Store) to login.

Step-by-step Guide on how to find TIN Number

Search for Malaysia Taxpayer’s TIN number

Upfront after login, user will be notified on the serious consequences of misusing the TIN information.

Criminal proceeding will be instituted when there is misuse of Tax Identification Number (TIN) information, where it is subject to a fine not exceeding RM4,000 or imprisonment for a period not exceeding one year or both (Section 66A, Income Tax Act 1967).

For 2 main categories of taxpayers, the search methods are:

Individuals Taxpayers:

  • Identity card number
  • Passport number

The system only allows TIN searches for Identification Numbers and Passport Numbers. For Military and Police Numbers, taxpayers need to update their Identification Number via Customer Feedback Form

Other Than Individuals Taxpayers:

  • Company
  • Limited Liability Partnership
  • Co-operative Society
  • Trust Body
  • Partnership
  • Association
  • Hindu Joint Family
  • Labuan Entity
  • Public Entertainer
  • Deceased Person’s Estate
  • Unit Trust / Property Trust
  • Real Estate Investment Trust / Property Trust Fund
  • Business Trust

Most non-individual taxpayers like Sdn Bhd company are searchable by reference number that are usually the new Business Registration Number (BRN) like “201601017379” format.

We have tested with old ROC number like “1188312K” format also workable.
